Why Turkey?
Turkey has always been my second home. I've spent summer vacations here since I was born. During my studies I was allowed to study in Antalya for a semester. I've always been very sad when I had to start my journey home, but after the semester abroad I realized that I wanted to get to know more about the country and the culture. Turkey, and especially Antalya, is not only a wonderful holiday destination for me, but also a country where I feel very comfortable. I love the culture, the nature, the language and above all the food :D
My goal is to get to know more about my second home and to show on my channels that Turkey has more to offer than just all-inclusive hotels.
What did you study and could you imagine working in Turkey?
I did my bachelor's degree in "Management" and my master's degree in "Leadership in Tourism". I completed my semester abroad in the tourism faculty.
Yes, I can imagine working here - but please not in the call center 😅
What do you need for the residence permit?
Here the residence permit is called "ikamet". There are several ways to get the ikamet. It is best to find out about this in advance.
Unfortunately, I don't know that very well either, but you can get some information from the official ikamet site.
Back when I was a student, I got my ikamet fairly easily. Otherwise, my ikamet can be obtained through investment or, for example, through a job.
Important: after three months in Turkey you need a residence permit.
How much money do you need for a year in Antalya?
It's hard to say... Of course it depends on where you want to live and what your standard is. An apartment in Lara, for example, will be very expensive. An apartment in the village, on the other hand, is a lot cheaper. Will you have a car or not? Will you eat out often, travel a lot? These are questions that you would have to answer yourself so that you can then add up your monthly fixed costs.
What do you have to consider before emigrating?
Be prepared that some challenges will come your way. EVERYTHING never runs smoothly. It will be a new environment. New people. New friends. new system New routines. If you feel ready, then the biggest hurdle is over.
Otherwise, it is very important that you deal with a few things before you emigrate. For example:
residency permit
insurance on site
Apartment: where will you live?
Work Permit & Job
Do you have any tips for emigration?
Living abroad can be incredibly enriching. You learn a lot about yourself but also about life. Whether emigration is permanent or just for a limited period of time, it will be a time you will not forget.
But emigration also brings one or two challenges. It's challenges that make you grow. The better you prepare, the easier it will be for you :)
